Terrible Explosion in West Bengal,At Least 9 People Killed.At least 9people were killed in a terrible explosion in East Midnipur district of West Bengal province of India.Several others were injured in this explosion in a house of Egra police station in East Midnipur on Tuesday.
According to the country’s English daily The Hindu,the explosion took place in the house of Khadikul village of Egra police station on Tuesday around 11 am local time.The house where fireworks were being made was reduced to rubble.
Locals attacked the policemen who reached the spot after the explosion.At the same time,they also prevented Trinamool Congress leaders from visiting the spot.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that fireworks were being made illegally in that house in Egra.The president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)of West Bengal Province,Sukant Majumdar, complained that the explosion occurred while making bombs inside the factory of the local leader of Trinamool Congress.
Stating that West Bengal Police’s Criminal Investigation Department has started an investigation into the blast incident,Mamata said,she is not against an investigation through the National Investigation Agency(NIA),as demanded by the opposition parties.
The West Bengal Chief Minister said that senior police officers have been sent to the spot and action will be taken against the officer-in-charge of Agra police station.The man who was running the factory illegally was arrested by the police last year,he said.
Mamata said that the accused fled to Odisha after the blast.The police identified the accused as Bhanu Bagh.
Police Superintendent of East Medinipur K. Amarnath said that 9dead bodies have been recovered so far.The police said that the factory was raided just a few days ago.
